The Emory Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center believes that information is power for families when a loved one has Alzheimer’s or other dementia. We want to increase your awareness of available resources that you can benefit from now and guide you to resources you may need in the future.
The face of Alzheimer’s is often isolated to the patient when in reality the face is the entire family and accordingly we called our annual event “A Family Affair." The A Family Affair raises critical funds to support the Emory ADRC‘s cutting edge research, education and clinical care. This evening’s event chairs, Sarah and Jim Kennedy, understand the deep impact Alzheimer’s has on a family and thought it was crucial to show the many faces and families of this disease. From their family to yours, Sarah and Jim are dedicated to stopping Alzheimer’s. In addition chairing this year’s A Family Affair, they have taken their commitment further by partnering with the Emory Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center to launch an innovative drug trial that uses an existing FDA approved drug for treatment in patients with confirmed mild memory loss.
The video below tells the stories of families impact by this dreadful disease and explains the research of Dr. David Weinshenker, whose work provided the scientific basis for the Kennedy funded drug trial.
